Adelaide United appoint new Ninja A-League coach with a decade experience: ‘Perfect fit’

Adelaide United have announced the appointment of Theo Tsiounis as their new Ninja A-League head coach on a two-year deal.

Tsiounis brings a decade of coaching experience in South Australia’s National Premier League and State Leagues, as well as a track record of developing young players.

He also has a background in education and sports science.

The 42-year-old is a highly respected figure in South Australian football, currently serving as the Head Coach of State League 1 side West Adelaide Soccer Club, where he will continue for the remainder of the 2025 NPL Season, before fully transitioning into his new role.

Tsiounis replaces Adrian Stenta, who has moved on to an assistant coach role with Adelaide United’s Isuzu UTE A-League side after overseeing a club record season.

“Theo brings the right combination of leadership, teaching ability, and football knowledge to lead our A-League Women’s program into its next phase,” Adelaide Technical Director Ernest Faber said.

“He fits perfectly within our Club philosophy and our commitment to developing local talent and building a strong football identity. We’re excited to work together over the coming years.”

Tsiounis added: “I’m excited by the opportunity to build on the strong foundations already in place at the club.

“It’s an honour to have the trust and backing of the Club and I don’t take that responsibility lightly.

“I’m eager to connect with the playing group and begin this exciting chapter of our journey together.”

The Reds finished third in the Ninja A-League 2024-25 season, reaching the semi-finals.
